January has been awful. Mostly involving health, but it's quite a bit, so I'll spare everyone the details.

I have slowly begun the process of upgrading art supplies, as I have started taking my art much more seriously. I am actually, finally considering selling framed works in the future, and if my health holds, that may come to fruition. I treated myself to a rOtring 600 0.5mm mechanical pencil {after a couple of weeks of pining and intense pencil lust} and it's now one of my most treasured possessions. I need a light drawing board so I can make inked copies of my sketches without damaging the originals.
And slowly accumulating Copics. Dear G-d, I must be a masochist.

Now that this bizzare virus has left my body, I can get back to my sketchbook. {And Google Docs. Because guess who is too poor to afford Microsoft Word? :lmao:}

I hope everyone is well, :heart:

My artistic interests are all over the place, and my ventures get shared here. {They will also appear on my tumblr and instagram accounts, just so there is no confusion.} I am currently vested in bettering my writing skills as well as the bit I refer to as 'drawing'.
I also make stamps.

Is this your 3rd time changing DA name? XD  Magic-Ramen?  XD

Actually I think it's my fourth or fifth name change...but the name change feature is pretty new, so for the first three I just made new accounts. I felt like something silly and more light-hearted this round, not sure why lol.

I idolized CLAMP in middle school so I copied nearly everything they did lol! I loooove putting lots of detail into my work. My favorite way to learn new things and try different styles, by trying to draw something as closely to another style as possible and it's great practice. I like to see how closely I can get it to how another artist does it and still retain my style.
I use cross hatching for shading almost everything to add texture and depth, and for hair I do something similar. I shade everything lightly with thin lines (thin ballpoint pens are my favorite) and you can spread the cross hatching lines out to make it appear 'light', and bring the lines closer together to make it look 'darker'. I use pens in a very similar manner to pencils. :XD: Did any of that make sense? :lmao:
